Mask Concept Designs

Following my previous research on what makes the masks featured in horror movies so iconic and unsettling, I decided to try and recreate this effect with my own mask designs.
Featured below are a few concept designs I created to study possible masks we may use in our own film opening (that is, if we continue in the horror direction).
(First two designs drawn by me)
This mask design was made after the "Oni"; 'demon' in Japan. It is believed that there are many types of oni, including benevolent as well as malevolent, red being the most iconic, though blue being the most common design of the mask, followed by the white, which is why I have made all three variations. It is believed (in folklore) that if the mask if worn, the traits of the demon may be passed onto the wearer.

Here, I experimented by using clowns as the inspiration. From the survey, somehow Pennywise was one of the most unsettling, and in many horror environments, clowns are also viewed as something which certainly should not be around children.
Be it their 'false personas' or just plain uncomfortable yet ever-lasting smiles, clowns are a big tick when it comes to disturbing faces.

We considered an animal mask as it could also serve as symbolism for our opening/killer; for example, a pig mask (similar to that seen in the SAW franchise) could have represented greed or gluttony, though if the mask didn't look realistic enough it could ruin the film.

A stitched mask (either skin or burlap) would be good as it presents the killer as a more rugged and crazed character. Similar to Friday 13th P1, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Silence of the Lambs (for a little bit at the end at least), a mask like this is both scary and diminishes the killer's true identity even further.
